Three consequences worth thinking through:
- If you’re paying $10 for Plus because you wanted the AI, you don’t have it. You have a trial. Moving to real AI means doubling your per-seat cost.
- The seat price multiplies. Business is per member. A five-person team is $100 a month before any agent credits.
- Credits are a second meter. Custom Agents and the new Workers feature both consume Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 a month. Budget for the seats and then budget again for the automation.
One genuine plus: on Free, Plus and Business, Notion states a 30-day data retention window with its LLM providers, and Enterprise gets zero retention. Notion also says your data isn’t used to train its models unless you opt in.
What Notion AI is actually good at
Judged purely as a writing tool, Notion AI is unremarkable. A dedicated assistant will draft better prose.
Judged as a way to interrogate your own workspace, it’s a different product. Asking “what did we decide about pricing in Q2?” and getting an answer drawn from meeting notes and docs you wrote months ago is something a general chatbot simply cannot do, because it has never seen your work.
